The Rye Town Museum is home to an interesting collection of artifacts which have been preserved for generations in order to keep Rye’s history alive. They include:

        
        Photographs-
thousands of originals and reproductions, conveniently cataloged and labeled 

        Post-cards-
hundreds, dating back to the Grand Hotel Era in Rye’s history, most with fascinating stories of their own 

        Ephemera- newspaper clippings, playbills, menus...

        Textiles- elegant dresses, hand-made quilts, much-loved dolls...

        Tools- used by past Rye fishermen, doctors, soldiers and many others

        Letters/Diaries- handwritten and priceless

        
Town Records- some centuries old, others as recent as 2008
