Volunteers Needed

The following is a list of projects and tasks we seek help with, and we are always open to anyone who wants to volunteer their time and skills. What ideas do you have to help the society and museum? Please share them with us!

  • Projects coordinator: Document Old Houses/Barns; etc.

  • Textile curator: organize, preserve, document and display museum’s collection

  • Custodial work: maintenance, recommend repairs/replacement, etc.

  • Research projects: farming, fishing, Straws/Odiorne Pt., Rye Beach, etc. Help contribute to 20th century section of the new Rye History

  • Rye schools: coordinator between museum resources & teachers/students

  • Membership: publicize RHS/museum; seek new members, update list, outreach

  • Exhibits: updating current exhibit, plan new ones, loan older exhibits

  • Grant Writing/administering: apply for “History.com” school/com. grant, others

  • Fundraising: house, barn, expanded trolley tours; other ideas?

  • Museum Staffing: volunteer in order to increase museum hours

  • Public presentations: present and/or create RHS programs for other groups

  • Public Relations: contact w/ other town organizations and reg./statewide hist. soc.

  • “Friends of the Museum”: create such a group after the Library model
